As a healthcare provider, for both acute care and mental health, and somebody who has struggled with body image issues my entire life, I cannot express how grateful I am for your post. Destigmatizing the use of medication’s to help us is so important. If using a GLP-1 can help someone’s long-term health and potentially avoid multiple medications to treat those things – but not cure them – then all hail the GLP-1s. Using Tizepatide has changed my life. I know that my long-term health is headed in a much different direction than it was three months ago.

I hope that these medications become available to more people who can benefit profoundly from their use.

Thank you again, Melissa.

I am so happy for you. I’ve heard from so many people who feel their GLP1 “unlocked” something that was previously inaccessible despite their knowledge, efforts, willpower, and support. Thanks so much for sharing ❤️

My doctor suggested I use the GLP-1 in combination with the Whole 30. I had success on the Whole 30 years ago. When I switched from the Whole 30 to the idea of " Food freedom"--it was much more difficult for me. Now, with the GLP-1, it is much easier.

I am thrilled to hear this!!! (And who is your doctor?!? I’d love to reach out!) I’ve heard this from more than a few people, in fact. Their food noise seemed to be the biggest hurdle to their Whole30. Now that it’s quiet(er) they report doing the program and implementing their learnings feels much more attainable! XO

I’ve literally never clicked faster. I was legitimately wondering what your take would be last night… I feel plugged in to the universe!

I’ve been talking about them here and there for a while, but people ask me ALL THE TIME so I figured it deserved a permanent home ❤️

Same. I’d been wondering what MU would say, though I was pretty sure it would be all about it as a tool and not at all about shame.

I am so proud to be a member of your community. Thank you for getting it. I am one of those people that the minute I went on GLP-1s the food noise and peace around food happened after 63 years on this planet struggling. I have been told I work harder than most. I have a toolbox of tools including a therapist, weight loss coach, Whole 30 way of eating to finally say in my 64 years of life I am within a 10 pounds of a realistic maintenance range. GLP-1 did not do the work for me, but they gave me the pause and peace so I could do the work. #fan4ever

THAT LAST SENTENCE. Yes! I'm thrilled this tool is available and so effective for so many, and I hope they continue to work on accessibility, especially insurance coverage and pricing. Thank you so much. XO

Love this perspective. I have been trying to lose the same 20, then it became 40 lbs for 20 years after the birth of my youngest child, hitting midlife didn't help. I've done all the right things with diet, calories, moving my body, etc. It felt like an uphill battle and I wasn't getting anywhere. I started a GLP-1 and suddenly I'm seeing progress. I'm still doing all the work, but am actually, finally seeing progress and it's encouraging.

I'm so happy this was a tool to help you move the needle! I've heard from so many people that food noise in particular was blocking their efforts (and they made EFFORTS!) to see positive change. When that is quiet(er) on a GLP-1, those efforts feel more attainable (again, as people have told me). XO

“More than that, though, I’m pro-you.”

This is why you continue to be The Best. 💖

I’ll be conferring with my doctor in September to see what my next steps are. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

The Prozac family of drugs never worked for me (thanks to 23&me, I now know that I am a fast metabolizer of that), but when my doctor switched me to Effexor, it was like a miracle. The sky was BLUE! I remember looking up and thinking that I had never seen the sky so blue and the clouds so white in my life. It was like someone finally turned a light on. I had spent decade soooo depressed and finding something that gave me hope truly felt like a miracle.

Giving people access to life changing a life saving tools should be the standard of medical care!!

I'm a diabetic with a history of a whole lot of food noise and I've been using a GLP-1 for 3 years and the way that noise has been eliminated from my life! It's a miracle I will never take for granted. Thank you for supporting me as an individual.

I am so happy to hear it! I've heard from SO MANY PEOPLE around the subject of food noise. Y'all had a lot to say, and were willing to share so openly. I really appreciate all of the dialogue around this. XO

So many good thoughts here. I have to say my GLP-1 trip is more than weight loss. That’s actually the side effect. My nutritionist asked me if i experienced “food noise” and when I thought deeply about it, I realized the conversation was a loud chatter. Impossible to tune out. Today, my BP is better. My energy is regulated. I may lose weight more slowly than some, but I need to control my BP more than anything.

Thank you for clarifying that! We NEED to be talking about the benefits OUTSIDE of weight loss, because these medications go so far beyond just that one facet. I'm so happy for you! XO

Yay! Great assessment. I love the comparison with Prozac. I had a similar experience with Lexapro and ADHD medication. It cleared the space for me to actually relax and heal and work on my issues.

Here you are again, hitting the nail right on the head as usual. I’ve been on Trezepitide since January. It’s saved my life in several ways. Your description of the desk is the most amazing one I’ve ever heard. I continue to love and be thankful for the way you approach things. Always incredibly spot on. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

So thrilled to see your write up on this. I work with hundreds of women who are finally able to make some changes they've needed to make for years by using these . I wish it didn't have the reputation of being "easy" because 95% of those on these drugs still have to do the work and still need lots of support (there are def some that have crazy fast results), it's just now they finally have some capacity to do it.
