Kiss, Marry or Kill: 38
IT'S BEEN A MINUTE but I've read some ELEVENTY STAR BOOKS so let's get into it
This is my weekly ??? series for subscribers only, where I’ll share things that caught my eye this week in a fun and flirty way (kiss), a sustainable way (marry), or a not-so-good way (kill). And yes, this trendy game is technically “f***, marry, or kill” but we run a family-friendly-ish show around here.
I KNOW it’s been ages since I’ve done one of these. Building out the new Whole30 Foundations course damn near killed me. It was like having a full-time job on top of my full-time job. Now my schedule is a bit more open, and I’m back to strategizing how I use this platform. In the meantime, here is a round-up of some damn good books. XO
Kiss (5-star books)
Their Vicious Games, Joelle Wellington (←read)
Is this book Young Adult? I think so. Did I devour it with no shame? Absolutely. Adina is smart as hell, working twice as hard as everyone else at her prestigious boarding school—because she’s Black, and has to. When a mishap threatens her entire future, she takes a chance and enters an invite-only, super-secretive game called The Finish. It gets weird, y’all. And dark. But the writing is so smart, Adina is so root-on-able, and the characters progress with a surprising amount of depth. I read it in two days and loved every f***ed up meaner-than-Mean Girls second.
