I once heard this hot tip: book a laundry service to pick up all your laundry the day after you get back. They take it, and deliver it back washed and folded! One less thing to deal with.

I also like to keep a ‘quick to reheat’ frozen dinner in the freezer for weekends when we return late on Sundays- it saves us getting bad take-out and feeling gross and disorganized.

We had Made By Whole30 meals delivered the day we returned, so we had "our" food without having to meal prep. That's such a great idea. We also had our cleaning service come the morning before we got home so the house was spotless--made coming home far less stressful too.

Taking the Monday after a vacation is the best advice I have ever received. ESPECIALLY if it's longer than three days and double that if you traveled internationally b/c jet lag is rude and unnecessary! thank you for sharing your trip with us. I learned that my husband will never ever go on safari with me after showing him your videos :D Guess I will plan a girlfriends trip.

Hahahaha it's actually very safe, but that would be an amazing friend trip!

I am about to be away for 2-3 weeks and already planned to implement the Monday after as a day off but the extra tips about premade meals or the laundry suggestion below are fantastic!

Also, love the idea about using Sunday as a tidy-up day for the office space but while doing something I enjoy like an audiobook, thanks for that tip!

Also I hope you had a great trip! I traveled South Africa for 5 weeks one summer with a bestie, self-driving safaris for most of it, and it remains one of the most epic trips. Highly recommend for anyone else if you can get there!

I have loved your OOO boundaries! As a teacher, I can’t usually take off the Monday after a vacation, but I implement many of your other tips. A game-changer for me was to write my OOO and add that I would be responding to emails the Tuesday after, and even then to please give me 24-48 hours to respond. Then, even though I was at work on Monday, I could use Monday to get caught up without feeling stressed. It really did lift this Sunday scary weight and the stress of Monday bc I could prioritize other tasks like making sure I was ready to go for my students! I also try to prep any copies and agenda slides as much as possible before a vacation and write out a list of to-do and organize my work space for when I get back. It all helps with my mental health and stress levels but the addition to my OOO about responding to emails has been the game-changer my mind has needed!

I dream of the day I can set up an out-of-office message like that.
