Felt this one down into my soul!! Went to a Fall festival yesterday and everyone was dressed to impress. I have not moved on from the Covid, soft and stretchy phase. I'm not sure I want to leave this phase but I want to feel slightly more put together - yet comfortable.
I always remind myself that you can wear WHATEVER YOU WANT. The pumpkin patch we visited last weekend saw lots of people (like me) in jeans and sneakers, AND lots of moms in fancy outfits with heels. YCDIAWYW (you can do it any way you want, from The Book of Boundaries). XO
You created the Whole30 logo?! As a graphic designer, all I have to say is well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’ve always appreciated the design concept of the Whole30 logo and now, knowing it was you who created it, makes that much more magical. 🩵
Yes. Yes. Yaaaaaaaasssssss. Thank you for putting this into words. I cut my hair off (like 12 inches!!!) primarily to force me into doing something more with it than a wet bun. And did jeans always dig in like this? Have I gained weight? How could I have been this miserable putting on hard pants everyday? And I worked in a "casual" office immediately prior to the pandemic. Don't even get me started on the years I had to wear proper business attire. My husband's birthday dinner is Wednesday and I was in sheer panic when I realized I'd done my "new season" stock up, cleared out my closet and was content with the outfit prospects, but absolutely nothing to wear for a dressy dinner. I'm doomed to be either really under dressed or really over dressed. Still haven't figured it out. I know two things: One, I refuse to buy anything new and two, I will be wearing clothes.
That is exactly where I was at. I will even say I let it grow absurdly long to force myself into a decision. ALSO - food for thought - I was just realizing this morning, I'm really just trading off time. My hair is quick to wash and style now, but to keep it this length I'll have to get it cut every 6-8 weeks. I used to go in every 4-6 months. So, there's that...
I’ve always struggled so hard with my style. I’ve never been the type that can pull two items from two different stores together to make an outfit. If i don’t see something head-to-toe put-together on a mannequin in the store, I’m never going to figure it out and it’ll probably sit in my closet unworn for months. For my Stitch Fix boxes, I give very clear instructions that I need 1-2 bottoms and 3-4 tops that will mix and match together in any combination so I know exactly what to wear (and thankfully they do a pretty good job of listening and oblige!). I also have the problem of being a 38F-G bra size, so things that are in style or look great on a standard mid-size woman just won’t work for me because the straps are too flimsy or the neckline is wrong. So basically I just resort to plain straight black trousers and a blouse for my business casual at work every day, and jeans/jean shorts/leggings and a tank top for my everyday outings (birthday parties, grocery store).
Basically all that to say I definitely struggle with adopting my own style and things I find comfortable, the opposite of you. I need someone to tell me what looks good and then I’ll wear it, even if I think it looks a little goofy on me. Clothing items usually grow on me when someone tells me they will work for me, as long as I’m willing to put myself out there and try it. So I guess I’m the opposite of you and probably need to adopt some of your confidence in realizing what is and isn’t for me 🙃
I have a few "uniforms" that are go-tos, that allow me to mix and match pieces but have the same essential look. I know I like straight jeans with a not-too-fitted tee or a slightly oversized sweater half-tucked, so I wear that a LOT. I also don't have a capsule wardrobe, but I do own almost exclusively neutral colors (a little black, many shades of grey, navy, brown, camel, cream, some white) with a few pops of jewel tones for variety. And if I like something a lot, I will buy it in a few colors. I feel like all of these have helped me get dressed more easily in the morning!
Co-sign what Charley said! And the algorithm is GREAT, so once it sees you looking for something, it'll serve you up more of the same. Stay on or engage with what you like, swipe what you don't, and it will continue to refine.
I feel you here working from home I also have very different needs now...I will have to try out American giant! I just ordered a pair of pants from Public rec and love them as well. Perfect for travel and they are soft I can wear at home or the office!
You might check the ones below as they come in 4 different length options! I have the opposite problem I am a shortie and almost all pants are too long on me!
I struggle with pants....especially since I live in a warmer climate and am in the peri -menopausal phase of life. I prefer shorts alllllllllll the time but there are a few times pants are a must. Any suggestions?!?
Athleta makes some INCREDIBLE lightweight pants that look fancier than athletic wear (I even wear some for work) but are very comfortable and moveable. Their Brooklyn Ankle Pant and Endless Pant are two of my favorites, and they have inclusive sizing to boot.

Hard same.

Thank you! I hired a designer originally, but what she was coming back with was just not it, so i started playing around with it myself. :)

I guarantee you can find a staple outfit and dress it up with jewelry, shoes, and attitude. Keep us posted! 🎉
I've got T minus 9 hours to figure it out. LOL.
I do a wet bun everyday! ♥️
It's an absolute life-saver! There's a very good chance this new "do" will be immediately grown back out to wet-bun length. LOL.
Right? I've been saying to myself I need a haircut as well ... it's actually getting *hard* to make the bun cause it's so long 😄😭😘

I have been on TT twice. How do you find boho styles for short, hourglass, almost 50 year olds? Is there a search option?

There is a search! You could just type “50 year old boho style” or “boho for hourglass shape” and see what comes up

I love all things AG but their pants are almost always too short on me! Which is a real bummer.

Here they are if anyone is tempted hahaha https://www.publicrec.com/products/all-day-pant?handle=all-day-pant-womens-navy&variant=&product=7185470390306 I now have both navy and black!

I wear Athleta pants everyday!
