He’s a doll! So happy for him and you all.

I had no intention of adding another dog to the house. But, in June, Buddy was a stray in the neighborhood who walked home with me, and after a 2 day stint at the pound, I went to visit him and knew he needed to come back to the house with me, at the very least as a long term foster. He’s at least 13, and he’s the happiest dog I’ve ever met - I named him Buddy after Buddy the Elf because EVERYTHING is his favorite. He’s in surprisingly good health for a dog as old as he is. Daisy tolerates him - she’s way more low key than him - he’s always waiting for us at the door with his tail wagging hard when we come in from walks - they are pretty much the same size, but like night and day. Daisy is a slow, sniff everything walker. Buddy wants to GO and likes a long walk. So, walking them together is kind of drag for both of them - I’m either pulling Daisy along or stopping Buddy, so neither gets what they want. More steps for me with 6-8 walks a day! And in truth, since Buddy’s arrival, I’ve been so much more active because he LOVES to walk. I didn’t know how much I needed him.

Congratulations to everyone! So glad H&H are already pals. 💙

“I do not need another dog. I do not need another dog.” My Lully found me as well and she ducks when you throw a ball. 😂 I have never in my life seen a dog duck under a ball.

Hahaha my husband is FIRM on no more than two dogs, and I'm with him.

I love Hank and he sounds so much like our 2nd dog, Wilson. We weren't looking for a 2nd dog yet but came across him and knew we couldn't say no. He was 12 weeks when we got him and not trained, either (which was to be expected). He was standoffish at first but has now become the biggest love bug, even more so than his big brother.

They're both Bernedoodles which is what Hank resembles to me (which would explain his love bug tendencies as well). I love that Hank found you all and now has a loving home along with a patient and "good boy" big brother. Two-dog households are no joke, as you said, but they're double the snuggles so they're worth it! Big hugs to Hank and Henry!

Our dogs found us! I'm excited to see the results of Hank's DNA test! Should be another few weeks.

I tease my husband that Wilson is a Portuguese Water dog and that we were lied to but whatever he is, we love him! LOL. Can't wait to find out what Hank is.

We did the same thing with our doodles - got Ned first, then got him a brother several months later (true brother!) Henry. Ned taught Henry everything he needed to know, and except for double the vet/food/everything else costs, it wasn't too much more work, and more than triple the love. We lost Ned to cancer a couple months ago at 12 years old, and Henry just turned 12 himself. Really missing the land of double-doodles around here--enjoy the crap out of those cuties! Love love love following along on IG.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Henry (ours) is proving the best big brother! He's issuing the right degree of corrections at the right time and is VERY patient with Hank's dorp-dorp behaviors. It's such a joy to watch them together.

Thanks for the story about Hank. I have a Hank too, a large standard berniedoodle and his full sister who was rehomed to me at three years of age. I am assuming that your Hank is a berniedoodle? I can walk both dogs together. Their combined weight is about 160 pounds. It is great having two dogs.

We're not sure what he is, but I've done a DNA test and should find out in a few weeks! Some say bernadoodle, some say Portuguese water dog... we shall see!

I have to laugh at your caption that says "if I like it I just get it in another color" because they also essentially have the same name since Hank is a nickname for Henry.

Hahahaha I've been meaning to make a Reel about that.

We recently got a second cat after the Cat Distribution System presented one at our office. Friendliest little fellow you’d ever meet (okay, he’s not little, he’s 16 pounds) and, like Hank, had clearly belonged to someone at some point. As the wind chill dipped below zero last night, I, too, got a little misty-eyed and verklempt, thinking of him still living under a crappy wooden storage shed, canoodling with rats. Glad to hear Hank has found his forever home!

It took us 6 years to add a second dog to our pack. I waited a LONG time. But immediately I saw a change in our first dog Teddy. He and our second dog Blue are like ying and yang to each other. They complete each other with their different traits, and they work together to complete our family. It's so awesome, and I am glad you are getting the opportunity to see the pack dynamic in your own home.

Love this story, how did Hank’s first visit to the groomer go?

We haven't taken him yet. He was groomed at the shelter the day before we got him, so he'll be due in another few weeks! He's been good in baths, though. He doesn't like getting into the tub, but once he's in he just stands there, resigned. :)
