It’s weird how random shit like this sometimes shows up exactly when we need to hear it. I’m up against a life-altering choice (do I take the job?) and I’m terrified. Thinking about Parallel Amanda is a good way to look at it.
Okay, so with this exercise, you have to give me your INITIAL reaction. Like the immediate feeling, no pause, no reflection, just your gut. What's the first thing that comes up? Ready... here we go.
I'm calling you on the phone (ring, ring). You answer, "Hello!" I tell you, "Hi Amanda, I'm from the company you've been talking to. I'm sorry, but the job we offered you is no longer available, we've decided to put a freeze on hiring for the foreseeable future."
Do you feel (a) incredibly relieved at this news, like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders, or (b) SUPER disappointed and sad?
P.S. I love Alternate Timeline Melissa standing behind you. I notice all the subtle stuff you do to the logo/cover picture on these. Right up my creative alley.
Love this post. It also reminded me of an article I read recently (somewhere between the beginning of the year and now...) about language. How our language has defaulted to “violent” terms in so many ways. Nailed it, crushed it, killed it, destroyed it, grind it out... we have these terms that mean we succeeded, but they are all violent. And when pressed, it’s challenging to think of positive non-violent words to replace them! There’s an old adage about if you consider yourself a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Since reading that article, I have been aware of the “violent” words that I default to. It’s an interesting exercise.

Meanwhile, I will do some connecting with Alternate Timeline Kris and see what she has to say. Right now, I am just STUFFING myself with garbage, and then looking in the mirror like, “Hmm, I wonder why my body feels so out of control?!?” WHO KNOWS? THE ANSWER IS A MYSTERY.

In other news, I started on the estrogen patch yesterday! WOOOOOOOOOOO!
We had a good comment thread about violence in words here a few months back. It's made me think about that in my own language as well. Good luck with Parallel Timeline Kris AND the estrogen patch! I hope it smooths out any rough corners for you XO
I am here for this content!! Love it. Hoping you might be open to sharing more about your visualization practice and how newbies can get started. I often get frustrated with visualization exercises because I don’t see anything. Just a blank screen 📺 going on up there. I do believe in messages from ourselves/universe/spirit... I need to figure out how best to hear mine.
I definitely can! Did you know there's a subset of the population that CAN'T visualize? Like when you ask people to picture an apple, some people can SEE the apple in their brain (red, with a drop or two of dew on it, shining in the sun, with one perfect leaf still attached), and other people just... can't. It's called aphantasia: https://time.com/6155443/aphantasia-mind-blind/
Not saying this is you, but I've stumbled across this in past research and found it fascinating.
Ask, and then CREATE SPACE TO LISTEN. You can't ask and then fill it in with your own thoughts/guesses/more questions, and you can't ask and then immediately move on with your day. The key is creating space (stillness, quiet, presence, intention) to allow the answer to come through, in whatever format it may appear. XO
This is exactly what I needed today. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about when you shared this initially, and trying to listen to my parallel self. Why do we always roll our eyes at her at first?!
This is so good! It’s easy to get caught up in the mundane and not having enough energy- but slowing down and doing little things to “allow” resting times is something so amazing.
This was a well-written and profound way to understand yourself and what you need. I love this and I love to see what others do to “get out of that funk.” I could use this!!!

I have ANOTHER trick for this... I don't think it's published anywhere still but let me know if you want me to walk you through it. :)
I ABSOLUTELY want to be walked through it! I need all the help I can get!

I am in the same boat, wishing you peace in your decision-making!
Good luck! Let us know what you decide!!
Ooooh, this was so good. Thank you!
Your post was such a powerful reminder to keep asking myself what do I really need in this moment. Thank you!
So glad it resonated!

Thanks! It's been fun to play with the header images for the last month or two :)
Ha! Thanks, didn't notice that.

Yeah, no apple happening here 🤣
I’m going to give this (asking, that is) a try. It sometimes seems that the answers are so close!

Because we know she's right and that's annoying. :)
This was such an amazing read Melissa - thank you so much. 😊🙏🏼💗
