I am incredibly grateful for your wisdom especially during the last three months. Every morning before I get out of bed, I repeat The Four agreements by Dan Miguel Ruiz:
Be impeccable with my word
Don’t take anything personally
Don’t make assumptions
Do the best I can right now
This has really helped me clarify my intentions each day. Morning walks and meditation also help calm the nervous system. Keep up your stupendous and important work, Melissa, we got your back.💜
This might have specifically been written for me today - thank you for your wisdom and guidance here!! Love love the idea that they get to be them and I get to be me!
It’s hard to comprehend what could possibly drive people to such levels of cruelty to cause them to try and wound people THEY DONT EVEN KNOW with their words. They don’t deserve any of our attention or energy, other than pity for living meaningless lives. Please continue doing what you’re doing, Melissa. We need your honesty and wisdom now more than ever.
Really love these kinds of articles, always helpful to have reminders on how to deal with a-holes. I cope by saying OUTLOUD to myself, "I can't control their behaviour, only my response to them" It seems silly and simply but it instantly helps me regain my power.
I’ve been thinking about how I may handle trolls or “unskillful” comments on my blog. Part of my mission is to educate people about gaslighting and nonviolent communication. I may experiment with dissecting any trolling comments and using them as an “in vivo” teaching opportunity.
I LURVVVV your writing, Melissa! Brava! This piece is a brilliant support for all of us who navigate the topsy-turvy flow of connection via the interwebs. Thanks for the practical reminders and the emotional hang-reaching-out. Keep shining, baby!

Thanks for this - it’s been a long three months. Happy Thanksgiving
Excellent mantras! You're a smart, successful, strong woman - that scares the trolls. Keep up the good work and have a happy Thanksgiving!

I had forgotten all about the lamp!!
I have no time for people who seem to want to take me down a peg. As you said, that says way more about them than it does me.
